Happy Cinco De Mayo!!!

Cinco De Mayo

I’m loving the idea of wearing tribal prints and neons for Cinco De Mayo this year. The combination of the two seems like the perfect attire for a fiesta filled with margaritas and tequila shots. I plan to wear my tribal print mini with a neon orange tee and some beige wedges.

Grilled chicken fajitas are one of my favorite meals and margaritas are one of my favorite alcoholic drinks, so I’ve always enjoyed Cinco De Mayo. When drinking margaritas, I like to keep it simple and on the rocks, and my favorite recipes always consist of adding Grand Marnier. I’ve found I really like this recipe and if you’re into margaritas, you should definitely check it out!

Hope you all have a very Happy Cinco De Mayo and of course, stay safe!

Be Conscious

Last night, I was finally able to shop and try on some of H&M’s Conscious Collection and was pleasantly surprised.

For those of you that don’t know, the Conscious Collection, according to their website, is clothing made from “conscious materials for a more sustainable fashion future.” In other words they’re producing clothes made from organic cottons, linens and recycled materials such as polyester and wool and many more. Also, according to their website, they’re doing more than just using environmentally-friendly materials such as donating clothes to charity, using less water in their denim production and “educating garment workers in Bangladesh on their rights.” If you’d like to learn more about H&M’s conscious collection go here.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter!
As a little girl, I always loved Easter, not only because my family went to Florida every year, but because my mom would take us out and buy us each a pretty new dress to wear on the occasion. It was always really girly and covered in lace or floral or ruffles and in some sort of bright or pastel color, but I remember it always made me feel awesome to wake up Easter morning and have a new dress to show off. So this Easter we’re wishing you a happy Easter filled with jelly beans, colored eggs and that feeling of putting on a fabulous new dress!
Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter!

2 Days…Spring Colors

We’ve already commented on the fact that pastels and neons are supposed to be popular this season, but there are a few colors in particular that are also standing out for Spring/Summer.

Mint for Spring

As much as I love mint chocolate chip ice cream, I’m loving mint green for Spring. It’s on trend with pastels and seems just as pretty and flirty as wearing pink. I think this color would look best with white or nude colors. And for some reason, I’m really wanting a pair of mint green shoes.
Wearing white from head-to-toe doesn’t sound very functional when I’m constantly drinking coffee, but I am loving this look. I’ll probably hold off on testing this look out until a little later in the season when I have a bit more of a tan, and it’s definitely a change for me considering my go-to color is always black, but I am really excited about this look. Extra tip: when wearing white, nude undergarments is a must (white often shows through white).

And then there’s the color of the year, Tangerine or as Pantone named it, Tangerine Tango. This color is definitely not one I’d wear from head-to-toe, but I think it’s great as a pop color or mixed in a print. I do really want a tangerine colored belt or maybe a cross-body purse.

Will you be wearing any of these colors this Spring?

Let us know and feel free to share pics : )

How do you wear your green?

St. Pattys
Looking good while showing holiday spirit on St. Patrick’s Day can be tricky. However with mint as a color must have this season things could be looking up! This holiday try pairing mint jeans with a white, cropped tank. Or belt a green tank dress with some flats. I know I’ll be at the beach in my green bikini!! Show me what you have on this St.Patty’s day! Email us at barexbones@gmail.com and we’ll post your green get up. It’s a great day to have some fun with your green, but you can still look good while doing it!

5 Days…Spring Silhouettes

So this Spring there a few different silhouettes that are going to be pretty dominant.

Hi Low

First, we have the Hi-Low dress/skirt, a.k.a. the “mullet” skirt. This is one of my favorite looks for the Spring/Summer, and I think it’s a great way to wear a maxi without having to worry as much about getting the right length (I’m 5’10, so maxis frequently are too short for me, but I don’t have to worry about that with hi-low skirts).
The next silhouette I’ve noticed a lot for this Spring is the Peplum. This look feels very chic and grown up to me. I think I’m more excited to try a peplum jacket or top. I’d be worried the skirt/dress would add too much volume where I don’t need it, but I’m a firm believer in trying everything at least once.
Channeling the 20s, the final silhouette is a drop-waist dress. I think this look is great to dress up or down and has an effortless feel to it, but again, I’m not sure how well it would work with my body type. I’d have to see one on, which I definitely plan to try as soon as I can find one on my day off.
What do you think of all these? Which one is your favorite? What one are you most excited to try?
